Before You Start

To make sure your transfer goes smoothly, take these steps with your current registrar before starting the transfer to Appalachia Domains.

• Unlock the domain at your current registrar, allowing it to be transferred to Appalachia Domains.
• Obtain the authorization code for your domains, also known as the auth code, EPP code, transfer code, or transfer key. Contact your current registrar to obtain this code.
• Verify the contact information on your domain name. The administrator’s contact information may be used to stay in touch during the transfer process.

Purchase The Domain Transfer

Once you are prepared, it’s time to initiate the transfer and move the domain to your Appalachia Domains account.

1. Sign in to your Appalachia Domains account or create a new account. Need help to sign in? Find your username or password. Give us a call, we’re here 24/7.
2. Navigate to the Appalachia Domains transfer page and look up your domain..
   • If your domain is already registered with Appalachia Domains, we’ll show an option for an account transfer to move your domain into another Appalachia Domains account.
3. Ensure that your domain is unlocked. A green status bar will be displayed once we confirm that your domain is unlocked.
   • To update the unlock status, select ‘Refresh Status’, and we will verify again whether the domain is unlocked.
4. Please input the authorization code for your domain. The auth code can be obtained from your current domain registrar.
   • If you entered the incorrect information? No need to worry – you can update the authorization code in your account at a later time.
5. Proceed by selecting ‘Continue’ once the unlock and authorization code sections display green status indicators.
   • Selecting ‘Refresh Status’ may automatically advance you to the next step, eliminating the need to click ‘Continue’.
6. Select an option for Domain Protection, then click on ‘Add Protection’. If you opt out of adding Domain Protection, click on ‘No Thanks’.
7. To officially initiate your domain transfer, complete the checkout process.

The majority of domain transfers are completed within 5 to 7 days. We’ll notify you via email if we encounter any issues processing your transfer. You can monitor the progress of your transfer at any time in your Appalachia Domains account.

The extra year of registration is complimentary, excluding any applicable taxes and fees, such as the ICANN fee. If your domain’s current registration period is at the maximum allowed for its extension, it will not receive the additional year. Furthermore, not all domains qualify for the extra free year of registration. Similarly, not all domains are eligible for transfer.
